PSTP Alumni Receives Beckwith Institute Funding for Radiology Research

Ahmed Al-Khafaji, MD (UPMC IR '23, Pittsburgh PSTP '17) was recently awarded $55,000 from the Beckwith Institute for his project, "Radiogenomics of Y90-treated Colorectal Cancer Liver Metastases." Ahmed, a 5th-year interventional radiology resident, is mentored by UPMC radiologists Rivka Colen, MD and Anish Ghodadra, MD.

“My Integrated IR/DR training illustrates the indispensable role of expert consultants in imaging and image-guided therapies in patient care. Through the Physician Scientist Training Program, I honed my ability to interpret data and identify deficiencies, plan and execute effective studies, and build a collaborative team.”

Great work, Ahmed!
