Prospective PSTP applicants must first apply to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPSOM) through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) and complete the UPSOM supplemental application.

Applicants must receive an interview invitation from the UPSOM Admissions Committee before being permitted to access and complete the PSTP online supplemental application.
Besides completing the PSTP supplemental application, applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from scientists who are conversant with the applicant’s training, previous research experience, and commitment to a career as a physician-scientist.
Additionally, a bachelor's degree or equivalent must be completed prior to matriculating.
July 1: The PSTP application opens and is available to applicants invited to interview at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPSOM).
July 1–December 1: UPSOM interview invitations are sent; the PSTP application becomes available immediately upon receipt of interview invitations.
Late August–mid December: UPSOM interviews
November 15: PSTP application screening begins and continues until mid-February
Mid January–mid February: PSTP interviews
February 6: PSTP application deadline for a given admissions cycle; however, early applications are strongly encouraged.
Late February: PSTP interviewees are notified of final acceptance decisions.
