Owen Clinger Receives an Ophthalmology Grant

The PSTP is excited to share that Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB) has granted the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine a $30,000 Medical Student Eye Research Fellowship to enable Owen Clinger to pursue research within the Department of Ophthalmology. Owen works under Yuanyuan Chen, Ph.D. mentorship to study new pharmacologic approaches for treating myocilin-associated glaucoma.

Since it was founded in 1960, RPB has channeled more than $403 million into eye research. As a result, RPB has been identified with nearly every major breakthrough in vision research in that time. Owen is from Pittsburgh and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Rochester. He has been a part of the PSTP since the summer of 2021. In his leisure time, Owen enjoys playing golf, watching hockey games with friends, and volunteering in the Pittsburgh community.
