Will Plautz, a fourth-year medical student in the PSTP who works in the Lab of Matthew Neal, MD, recently published an article in the journal Blood Coagulation and Fibrinolysis. The work evaluates two major molecules, ADAMTS13 (A disintegrin and metalloprotease with thrombospondin type 1 repeats 13) and von Willebrand Factor, in post-traumatic injury patients and a murine polytrauma model. The paper provides evidence regarding how these molecules may contribute to the development of microangiopathic kidney injury in the post-traumatic setting.
