MS4 student and Virginia native Anthony (Tony) Schulien’s work was recently published in Science Advances. Under the mentorship of Elias Aizenman, Ph.D., Tony conducted research on ischemic stroke neuroprotection in mice using a novel drug, TAT-DP-2. This drug halts biochemical pathways that can lead to cell death in neurons after a stroke and provides important evidence for potential drug targets in humans.
